China’s total installed power capacity surpasses 4,000GW

China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) released its latest national power sector statistics for January–May on June 25, showing that the country’s total installed power generation capacity had reached 4,010GW by the end of May 2026, up 11.0% year-on-year. The data also show that China’s installed solar power capacity reached 1,260GW, up 16.3% year-on-year, while wind power capacity reached 660GW, up 17.0% year-on-year. 📊According to calculations based on NEA data, China added 8.68GW of solar power capacity in May, down 90.66%year-on-year. New wind power additions reached 3.79GW, down 85.60% year-on-year. From January to May 2026, China added 59.59GW of solar power capacity and 25.05GW of wind power capacity.
