⚡️China’s wind power additions surge 166% YoY in June, while the decline in solar PV additions narrows to 13% China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) released its latest national power sector statistics for January-June 2026 on July 22. 📊According to calculations based on NEA data, China added 13.57 GW of wind power capacity in June, up 166% year-on-year. Solar PV additions reached 12.48 GW, down 13% year-on-year. From January to June 2026, China added 72.07 GW of solar PV capacity, down 66% year-on-year, and 38.62 GW of wind power capacity, down 25%. By the end of June in 2026, China’s total installed power generation capacity had reached 4,042.52 GW, up 10.8% year-on-year. Installed solar power capacity stood at 1,274.11 GW, up 15.8%, while wind power capacity reached 678.75 GW, up 18.5%. 🔌Separately, NEA data released on July 15 show that China’s total electricity consumption reached 898.1 TWh in June, up 3.7% year-on-year, bringing consumption from January to June to 5,099.9 TWh, up 5.3%. Electricity consumption by charging and battery-swapping services reached 14.8 TWh in June, up 57.1% year-on-year, and 81 TWh in the first half of 2026, up 56.9%. Electricity use by internet data services reached 9.1 TWh in June, up 41.4%, and 49.4 TWh in the first half, up 44%.
